A 6.7 magnitude earthquake, hitting Imphal of Manipur State in India in the early morning of January 4, created panic and rush in different parts of Bangladesh as well. One youngman in Dhaka died of cardiac arrest and 29 others were rushed to hospitals. Strong tremors of the earthquake were also felt in West Bengal and Myanmar.
The Meterological Department of India said that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 17 kilometres (about 10 miles) underground.
