Joe Biden To Win 2020 U.S. Presidential Election

Our observation and gut feeling makes us fore-believe that Democratic Vice President Joe Biden will win the 2020 American election in spite of the chaotic electioneering in the USA.

Reasons for his win can be summarized as such:

President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, has for the last four years failed to demonstrate a real leadership fit for the U.S. presidency, rather he has proved time and again that instead of being a leader he has been a micro-manager. Micro-managers are persons who suffer from a type of inferiority complex and try to compensate for this lacking with micro-supervision of everything and everybody. 

President Donal Trump has shown such a bullying and street ruffian talk, manner, and behaviour that many are tired of and repelled by him. Some are sick of his dividing attitude rather than a uniting one.

There are Republicans, who supported him before, became victims of Trump's demeaning nicknames and tongue-lashings for even little disagreements and critiques. These disgruntled Republicans, although small in number, will vote for Biden.

Among the Blacks, who were undecided before, tilted toward Joe Biden after the Black Lives Matter movement got thrashed by President Trump. 

Latinos similarly leaned toward Biden as they were blamed for being intruders, murderers, and rapists by the Trump government. Moreover, many Latino children were separated from their accompanying parents entering the U.S. illegally. Years passed but parents of these children are still not being able to be relocated.

The misogynistic language, attitude, and behaviour of Donald Trump alienated many American women of different ethnic backgrounds. In addition, Trump also has a bad reputation for sexually abusing women. He has a bad reputation for not placing women in important positions in his government.

Donald Trump's phony conservativeness also alienated many young people, especially students, who are usually progressive in their outlook. Because of his lip service of this conservativeness, a good number of Evangelical Christians and Roman Catholics are thinking not to support Trump anymore.

President Trump does not have any solid and concerted plan for dealing with the onslaught of the COVID - 19 pandemic. As a result, elderly people have been affected adversely. A good number of elderly persons, who had supported him in the 2016 election, are shifting their allegiance to the Democrats. 

Some people are extremely irritated by the disrespect that is evidenced in Trump's talks and behaviour. He thinks he is the centre of the universe and gives demeaning and insulting nicknames to his opponents and persons not agreeing with him fully. From his childhood, he learned this disrespect from his parents and it will never go away. His dysfunctional family life is a bad example for many, too. 

The presidential election of 2016 and 2020 are completely different. A lot of water has passed in the last four years. Things have changed a lot. The Biden win will be one of these changes.

Recently, Joe Biden has been nominated as the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party in the USA. He will contest President Donald Trump, renominated to run for the Republican Party. Joe Biden is a Roman Catholic. 

Some Catholic voters, mostly belonging to the Republican Party, are questioning the catholicity of Joe Biden as he supports abortion, homosexuality, and some other issues that go against the teaching of the Catholic Church.

Pope Francis Decries Racism And Violence in the U.S., Calls For Reconciliation

Pope Francis today in his live-streamed general audience termed the tragic death of African-American George Floyd at the hands of police officers in Minneapolis, USA, as "tragic" and mentioned that he was praying for him and "all others who have lost their lives as a result of the sin of racism," reports the CNN. 

 "Dear brothers and sisters in the United States, I have witnessed with great concern the disturbing social unrest in your nation in these past days, following the tragic death of Mr. George Floyd," the pope said.

"My friends, we cannot tolerate or turn a blind eye to racism and exclusion in any form and yet claim to defend the sacredness of every human life.

"At the same time, we have to recognize that the violence of recent nights is self-destructive and self-defeating. Nothing is gained by violence and so much is lost," he said.

From the U.S. Catholic Church, a number of priests, bishops, laypersons, and some organizations also expressed their disgust and concern for George Floyd's death and violence and voiced their demand for justice.

President Donald Trump in Cartoons

The world, especially the U.S., is gripped with the consequences of the childish behaviour of President Donald Trump. His narcissism, irresponsibility, quirkiness, constant belittling of others, and total lack of love and empathy are causing many people to suffer unnecessarily.

The Racial Killing of George Floyd and the Catholic Church Reactions

Police arrested George Floyd, an African-American man, on a complaint of passing a spurious 20-dollar bill in a store in Minneapolis on May 27. He was handcuffed and the police tried to place him in a police vehicle but failed as he was unwilling to enter the vehicle saying that he was claustrophobic. Then four policemen pinned him to the ground with their knees. In spite of his cries, " I can't breathe," " I can't breathe," one policeman, Mr. Derek Chavin, kept on pressing his knee on his neck for minutes. When his limping body was taken to hospital, he was pronounced dead.

The whole scene of arrest and policemen's brutal behaviour toward him was videotaped by more than one spectator. The videos became viral and spread throughout the world like wildfire. Condemnation and anger were expressed around the world including the USA against this blatant racism. 

The U.S. Catholic Church leaders were quick to express their resentment and outrage, too. A number of priests, bishops, laypersons, and Catholic charities and organizations condemned the racist and dreadful behaviour of the policemen and demanded justice for it. 

 On May 29, U.S. Bishop Chairmen (of seven committees of U.S. Catholic Conference of Bishops) gave a statement in the wake of the death of George Floyd and national protests, saying: "We are broken-hearted, sickened, and outraged to watch another video of an African American man being killed before our own eyes. What's more astounding is that this is happening within mere weeks of several other such occurrences. This is the latest wake-up call that needs to be answered by each of us in a spirit of determined conversion." 

The statement also said: "We cannot turn a blind eye to these atrocities and yet still try to profess to respect every human life. We serve a God of love, mercy, and justice."

 On May 31, Archbishop Jose H. Gomes of Los Angeles and President of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops in a separate statement said: "The killing of George Floyd was senseless and brutal, a sin that cries out to heaven for justice. How is it possible that in America, a black man's life can be taken from him while calls for help are not answered, and his killing is recorded as it happens?

"I am praying for George Floyd and his loved ones, and on behalf of my brother bishops, I share the outrage of the black community and those who stand with them in Minneapolis, Los Angeles, and across the country. The cruelty and violence he suffered does not reflect on the majority of good men and women in law enforcement, who carry out their duties with honor. We know that. And we trust that civil authorities will investigate his killing carefully and make sure those responsible are held accountable."

It further states, "We should not let it be said that George Floyd died for no reason. We should honor the sacrifice of his life by removing racism and hate from our hearts and renewing our commitment to fulfill our nation's sacred promise -- to be a beloved community of life, liberty, and equality for all."

The Catholic Church has its own drawbacks, too. It needs to be consistent, insistent, and striving all time to see changes in the discriminatory behaviour in all spheres of life. Its own people are not immune from racism, casteism (especially in south India, where the higher caste Catholics have separate seats in certain churches and separate graveyards than the low-caste Catholics), and other types of injustices.

U.S. President Donald Trump Impeached By The House of Representatives

Donald Trump, in his third year as the U.S. President, has been impeached in the U.S. House of Representatives on December 18. Next, the impeachment proceedings in the Senate will decide if he can remain in his office as the president. 

The House of Representatives (having the majority of its members as Democrats) as part of its impeachment proceedings, voted on two charges against the President -- (1) that President Donald Trump abused his power, and (2) that he obstructed Congress by refusing to cooperate with the impeachment inquiry, withholding documentary evidence, and preventing his important aides (assistants) from giving evidence. 

Now, as the second part of the impeachment procedure, the U.S. Senate will have to decide on whether the President should be removed from the power. It is unlikely to happen as the majority of Senate members belong to President Trump's party, the Republican party. The Senate's inquiry is supposed to take place in January of 2020.

Donald Trump is the third U.S. president to be impeached. The other two were: President Andrew Johnson (a Republican) who was impeached in 1868, and President Bill Clinton (a Democrat) impeached in 1998. Another president, Richard Nixon (a Republican) avoided the most possible impeachment by resigning from his office of the presidency in 1974.

Jesuit-Run Georgetown University To Open LGBTQ-Only Campus Housing For Students

The Catholic Church had a hard stance on sexuality, especially homosexuality. With Pope Francis, things began to change for a softer approach and greater acceptance. In line with this new stance of the first Jesuit Pope (Francis), Jesuit-run Georgetown University took an unforeseen decision for providing exclusive residence to the LGBTQ (L=Lesbian, G=Gay, B=Bisexual, T=Transgender, and Q=Questioning -- i.e. those not yet sure of their gender) students in the campus. This action is keeping many traditional and conservative Catholics' eyes rolling.

Guerrilla Archiving Trying to Save Data from Climate Change Foes

'Guerrilla archiving' is a new concept that's being hastily implemented now. It is a quick and concerted collaborative effort of many in copying and saving data on environment,  global warming, and climate change from U.S. federal government servers to safe servers elsewhere in the U.S.A. and Canada for fear of this data being lost or willfully being deleted by climate change foes in the coming Donald Trump government, starting from January 20, 2017. 

Donald Trump in his election campaign speeches denied the climate change, terming it a hoax invented by the Chinese. He also in the mean time nominated a climate change denier as the head of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Under these circumstances, environmentalists and climate change researchers are worried about losing years of climate and environmental research for future generations. The guerrilla archiving is trying to counter this.

Donald Trump Win Spurs Hate Crimes and Racism in the U.S. and Canada

The U.S. presidential election on Nov. 8 brought about a surprise result -- Republican Party candidate Donald Trump won it by electoral college votes rather than people's votes. 

His chaotic personality became most visible in his electioneering rhetoric and behaviour. His sexism, misogyny, xenophobia, irreverence, and racism were a good fodder for the media. These spilled over to a section of the Americans with a similar bent.  As a result, when it became clear that he was the winning candidate, some of these people vent their long-held secret hatred and racist attitude through their hateful remarks, racial slurs, and graffitic vandalism on houses, churches, storefronts, vehicles, and playgrounds of children and adults. Neighbouring Canada was also not immune to this. The Pandora's Box that Donald Trump opened during his election campaign will have  long-lasting results. 

It is noteworthy that, in 2008, the first Black president Barack Obama's win also had brought about hateful and racist incidents against the blacks in the U.S.A. Those were not as intense and as widespread as this year's.

Adverse Reactions and Protests in U.S. and Canada on Donald Trump Win

Republication presidential election nominee Donald Trump won, in his own language, the "rigged election" on November 8. Until the day of the election, he had been constantly pounding the election campaign trail with his verbal bombardment of the "rigged election."

When he himself won this very rigged election, not by popular votes (Hillary Clinton so far won more than two million popular votes than Donald Trump) but by electoral votes (Trump won 290 and Clinton 232 of these votes), he claimed legitimacy instantly! 

Immediately after the election, protests started and surged all over the U.S. and parts of Canada against Donald Trump's win. Protesters claimed the election to be fraudulent. Now some even want some centres' votes to be recounted to see if fraud was committed.

Whatever it is, now it is the reality that Donald Trump won and Hillary Clinton conceded to it, and Trump is going to be the next U.S. President after Barack Obama. 

Donald Trump is now not only the President of the people who directly voted for him, but also voters who voted against him. He wants to make America great, which he can only do if he works both for his supporters but also for his opponents. This is a very delicate balance to be achieved with cool and calm head as well as intelligent prowess. Can Donald Trump do it? That is the question in the minds of the Americans as well as onlookers from around the world.
